Visitation privileges set the conditions for the non-custodial parent's contact with the child. The rights of the parents to reasonable access to the child should keep in mind the best interest of the child. Where custody is awarded to one parent, the other parent is generally allowed reasonable access to the child. These rights and privileges should be exercised with good judgment.
A common visitation schedule provides for visitation every other weekend, alternating holidays, and some extended time during the summer. There, however, are not specific rules as to what will be just and adequate under the particular circumstances that may be present. |
